Easy Homemade Easter Baskets

I love Easter!! I love the bunnies, little chickadees, flowers; everything that that hints that spring and summer are just around the corner. I’m on the East Coast and we have had one of the snowiest winters in a long time. I am all for spring and everything it brings with it this year!

Easter also brings a whole slew of homemade gift and craft ideas running through my head; homemade baskets, great egg decorations, and great spring time flowers just to name a few.

In this post I’m going to share with you some great Easter baskets you can create.

First, there is a really cute bunny basket the kids would have a great time making. You can find directions by clicking here.

Baskets can also be made from anything as simple as a paper bag or coffee can. To recycle your coffee cans into baskets you will need a coffee can, newspaper, paint brush, white foam sheet, and white, black and pink paint.

First spread out the newspaper to protect your working surface. Paint your coffee can with the white paint and set aside to dry. Use the white foam to create the ears by cutting two long rectangles and rounding them into ears at the end. Use the pink paint to add the insides of the ears. Once your can dries, add a face to your bunny by painting eyes, a pink triangle nose, and a rounded W for a mouth. Now glue your ears onto the can and you have a great decorative basket!

Don’t be afraid to be a little creative and change up construction paper for the foam or pink paint, add googly eyes instead of black paint, or a cotton ball or two for the bunny nose. You could use a sponge instead of a paintbrush to paint the can too. Help your kids be creative and let them add their own little touch.

You can make another great homemade Easter basket by simply weaving ribbon or strips of fabric into a simple basket bought at a craft store. Dress it up even more with some flowers or cutout egg decorations.

Spring is just around the corner – FINALLY! Start your celebration and craft an Easter basket or two this week.
