Homemade Gift Ideas: Gifts The Kids Can Make!
Your kids love crafts don’t they? Kids are always more than ready to get all wrapped up in that glue, markers, and sequins. Help them discover the gift of giving by using these homemade gift ideas to create their own little masterpiece.
Box of Love
One of my favorites is the Box of Love. To make your own little Box of Love first you will need a small plain box. A jewelry box, maybe a small toddler shoe box, or even a larger shoe box if that’s all you have. If you aren’t able to find a plain box you can use plain colored wrapping paper to wrap the box. Next you will need glue, glitter, foam cutouts, or any other decoration you can use to decorate the box. Next you will need the following poem:
This is a very special gift that you can never se.
The reason it’s so special is it’s just from you from me
Whenever you are happy or even feeling blue
You only have to hold this gift and know that I think of you
You never can unwrap it; please leave the ribbon tied
Just hold the box close to your heart because
It’s filled with LOVE inside!
Have the kids write it on a piece of cardboard paper or a small card and attach it with a ribbon. If you are using a bigger box you can even have them write it out on a larger piece of paper and attach it directly to the top of the box.
Mini Photo Bookmark
Another homemade gift idea that kids will love to make is a mini photo bookmark. You know those photo booths at mall or at the beach? Those strips are great to use for bookmarks! You can also use those mini-photos you get in school picture packages. You can use several different mini-photos by using a glue stick to attach them to a heavy piece of paper. For both styles you may also choose to laminate the bookmark. Using a hole punch, punch a hole into the top of the strip. Take an 8” piece of yarn and fold it in half. Put the looped end through the hole and pull the loose ends through the loop and tighten. From there you can then cut the yarn to your desired length.
